WELCOME TO TELA!

Tela’s story starts with two childhood friends from Honduras who first met in kindergarten. Both shared a passion for their heritage and grew up in entrepreneurial families. As teenagers, they followed their dreams to the United States, where they eventually crossed paths again at a motor cross race. That day, they found themselves reminiscing about home and talking about what the future could hold.

Fueled by their love for Honduran food, especially the iconic baleada, they decided it was time to bring a taste of their childhood to Gainesville. They wanted to create a place where people could enjoy the vibrant flavors they grew up with, in a way that was fresh, fast, and full of heart.

Named after the coastal city of Tela—home of the baleada—the restaurant is our way of sharing the best of Honduran food with our community. From sweet plantains to red beans, Latin-seasoned meats, and our signature Tela sauce, every dish at Tela is a tribute to the bold, comforting flavors we love.

We’re proud to stay true to our roots and to serve food that’s not only delicious but also tells a story. Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a meal with friends, we’re here to give you a little taste of Honduras.
